Where Do I Belong

My precious mum never spoke Te Reo. She never talked about culture. My upbringing never emerged in Maori culture. What my mum taught me was her holistic traditions and how important the land was and needed to be looked after. I learned from her actions, not her words. A subject that intrigued me and still does. How much Maori blood do you have? Apparently mum had 1/16, what does that mean, and really who told her that. Did they take blood tests back in 1934 to define this blood fraction?
